Racing Drivers

We would like to open this page with a huge pat on the back for our Patron, David Brabham, who won the 2009 Le Mans 24 hours with Peugeot.

On this page we will list our supporting drivers and some quotes from their experience at our events. We will also keep you up to date with their racing achievements through the season.

David Brabham (Patron) ALMS

David continues to race in the American LeMans Series, this year Highcroft and Acura have taken the step up to P1 prototypes and David and team mate Scott Sharp are leading the championship. A poor start at Sebring was rewarded with a race win at St. Peters.

This year David was also signed by Team Peugeot Total to compete at LeMans 24 hours in the 908 LMP1 car, this is quite unusual for a team to sign a driver competing in a car in the same category but David has expressed his word that he will never discuss the two cars handling etc with anyone. He raced at the Spa 1000km in the 908 but clipped a slower car sending the Peugeot down the field as he managed to break a wishbone. He was teamed with Marc Gene and Alex Wurz and the number 9 car won the event outright.

Sir Jack Brabham

“It was great to be with all the Lotus cars and people for a fund raising day. I was very pleased to be there to support the good work of Racing4Charity."

Tom Kristensen. DTM/Audi Le Mans

"The work that David Brabham and his team put into Racing for Charity's Annual Celebrity Karting Event at Autosport International every year has to be commended. The level and quality of drivers that are drawn to this celebrity race are fast turning it into an event that no professional racing driver wants to miss, it's fun, it's competitive, but more importantly it raises a lot of money every year for charitable causes that need the help and support of us all. Many of those that suffer are our fans, they watch us on TV and sometimes they even manage to get to the races where we compete, and for me personally it's just so satisfying and pleasurable to be able to give them something back, aside from the fact that I can have so much fun whilst doing it."

Allan McNish

"The Racing for Charity event is fast becoming the first race of the year. The names that now compete are like a "Who's Who", and you know what it is like when racing drivers get together after a winter break!! But with a serious side, David Brabham has been able to bring together sport and it stars to raise funds and awareness for Racing for Charity.”

Emanuele Pirro

‘”Racing4charity” is a great event organised by great people, an opportunity to meet up with a lot of famous drivers and see them racing without mercy in equal go karts. I personally enjoy a lot being there especially the interaction we have with the numerous race fans. Thanks Dave!

Guy Smith

"I absolutely love attending the 'Racing for Charity' karting event it's a great way to start the season and the first 'Big' race on our calendar! Seriously though it's great to be able to take part in the race and help raise money for such good causes. David, and his team have put together a first class event and each year it gets bigger and better and I can't wait to do it again next year."

Marino Franchitti

“It's always such a pleasure to be involved with David's events, as not only do we raise a lot of money for some fantastic causes, but we have a huge amount of fun doing it!"

 Neil Primrose

" It is great to be involved with the team at 'Racing 4 Charity'. Any good to be done while pounding round with top drivers in karts is a treat and lots of money can be raised.  I am looking forward to next year's event more than Christmas"
 Neil Primrose

Rob Collard BTCC

Back in the BTCC for his ninth year and already Rob has won two of the nine races so far this season. Rob is racing with the Airwaves sponsored Motorbase BMW team and currently is in fourth place of the championship.

Paul O’Neill

Paul is back in the BTCC at last. Racing with the sunshine.co.uk sponsored Tech-Speed Motorsport Honda Intergra and was voted ’Driver of the day’ by ITV’s Tim Harvey at Thruxton. Paul continues to support us and he and his partner Mel Dowding can be found elsewhere on the website modelling our new to purchase clothing range.

The BTCC heads towards Paul’s home circuit at Oulton Park and we wish him well there.

Bradley Ellis

Quote "Bradley Ellis: “Racing 4 Charity is an event like no other. As far as I know it’s the only event in the country that unites drivers from all categories of motorsport and gives the public a rare chance to race alongside them and all for a good cause. Traditionally held at the Autosport International Show in January”.

‘PJ’ Rashidi (Alpinestars)

‘I was lucky enough to be asked to participate in the 2009 event, and it was a pleasure to race against legends we work with on and off the track.

Racing is what Alpinestars does, so when you combine a fun and competitive event like this, with big names, for great causes, then it is a no brainer that we want to be part of it.

We are looking forward to increasing our involvement in the 2010 event, our support for ‘Racing 4 Charity’ as well as the ’Richard Burns Foundation’, which is very dear to all of us at Alpinestars and to me personally.’
