Our Charities

Racing4charity is proud to be able to say that we have raised over £350,000 for a variety of large, small, local, National and International charities since we began fund raising in 1994.

David Brabham and Bill Williams first met in 1994 when David was demonstrating the Symtek F1 car at Thruxton Race Circuit. They joined forces to raise funds for a local Hampshire charity, Merrydale League of friends to support the building of a new playground for disabled children living and using Merrydale for respite care. The first venture was a charity kart race at Andover where David raced against local drivers and by 1995 over £25,000 had been raised and the playground was later opened by Derek Warwick, a fellow F1 driver.

David and Bill formed Rainbow Auctions and held auctions of motorsport memorabilia at various locations and by 1998 a firm relationship had been built between the team and Haymarket Publication’s Autosport International Racing Car Show at the NEC. An auction was held at Silverstone and over £8,000 was raised and donated to Bliss and the Special Care Baby Unit at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough.
