David Brabham's Racing4Charity Silverstone Event
12-Aug-2009Le Mans 24 Hours race winner, David Brabham’s Racing4Charity hospitality event held at the Silverstone Le Mans Series round offered guests an exclusive insight into the world of endurance motor racing while introducing the organisation’s dedicated charities, Nara (the Breathing Charity) and Malaria No More UK, for its 2009/2010 fundraising efforts.
The first event of its kind to be hosted by Racing4Charity was not only hosted by founder and current American Le Mans Series leader Brabham, but welcomed some of the sport’s top stars. Fellow ALMS star Marino Franchitti accompanied Brabham throughout the day while British racing icon Nigel Mansell, together with sons Leo and Greg, and Team Modena ace Antonio Garcia, also popped in to surprise the select gathering of guests.
Specially organised guided pit tours courtesy of Aston Martin and Team Modena also offered a behind-the-scenes look at the extensive race team operation required for endurance sports car racing, putting guests in the thick of the action right before the teams tackled practice and qualifying on Saturday.
Brabham, who also shared his Le Mans 2009 race-winning experiences and hopes to clinch the American Le Mans Series LMP1 title with guests, commented: “This is the first time that we have run an event of this kind and I am delighted that it has been such a success. I’d like to thank every single guest for attending this unique event which was made all the more special thanks to Aston Martin, Team Modena, Marino, Nigel, Leo, Greg and Antonio. It really was a rare opportunity for our guests to get behind the scenes at a top motorsport event, not to mention listen to fantastic tales and insight from the drivers.”
Motor racing fans can join Brabham and help Racing4Charity’s fundraising efforts at the annual Celebrity Karting Challenge at Autosport International, held at the NEC in January.
